Viewing a young autumn through the lace of leaves clinging to their green,
By streetlight and moonlight my steps echo on streets vastly lonesome for the thundering company of summer’s compatriots, now slumbering through their youth.
My garden is showing signs of fall being here. My spearmint is starting to get a reddish color in it’s leaves, my one large Paul R tomato plant is looking stressed with one last tomato on it. The string beans are still producing but yellow leaves are showing up. Perhaps because of the cooler weather, my cucumbers which have all died before getting an inch long now has one that looks like it will survive. The scallions are still doing well, but they have survived outside for a couple years already so that’s no surprise. I guess like me this time of year, the garden inhabitants just want to crawl under some shelter and wait for the warmer weather to reappear.
