Well, it was. Now it’s in my kitchen, and Aimee‘s kitchen, and Scott‘s kitchen, and ….
Yes, my first visit to the BK Food Swap did not disappoint. My partner and I brought brown sugar whiskey vanilla ice cream and butter cream cupcakes (one set with orange zest icing and begonia petals, the other with chocolate chips, with a chocolate chunk & Kahlua cream frosting). Oohs and Aaahs were overheard in every inch of the room. Unbridled yumminess the whole night long. Brooklyn has some amazingly talented foodcrafters, by the way. I’m also looking forward to perusing the various blogs and sites noted on hand-made tags and labels that came with the various goodies. My stash is quickly dwindling but before it goes, goes, gones, here are some pics from the night…
before and after cupcake sequence. izzie dreams in be-four cakes and then right below, the yumminess. excellent
She was in her element!
I forgot about the food swap, I’ll try to remember next year. A recent episode of Growing Your Grub had a listener that right around this time of year, gathered up everything still good in their garden and made a big dinner from it. A good reason to get together, and enjoy good homegrown food.
I will try to send you the link because they have several of these a year. The food was phenomenally good!
I’m so glad that you were able to go to the BK foodswap. I was out of town that week, but Aimee filled me in on what I missed. Sounded like a really fun one to participate. Hope to see you at the next one! – Mimi
Hi Mimi, it was fantastic! We really had so much fun. I’m looking forward to the next one but haven’t heard word on it yet – how about you? Any thoughts for what you’ll be bringing? How are your banana plants doing? Mine are good but only now are finally convincing me that they really do not (I mean, really, do not) care for too much sunlight. Ralph had warned me of this but it took awhile to see for myself. I now finally found a spot where at least one of them is happy. (The other is still getting shifted around a bit). It’s behind a taller plant in front of a south facing window. The other one is okay but just not ecstatic, y’know?
