Yay! Happy Friday to me! I just got the good (Googled) news that Begonias are edible. This, my revel friends, I did not know. I got them this summer just because they were pretty, seemed sturdy, and added a pop of color to my garden. Not gonna tell you what I’m going to do with this exciting news, but it’s gonna be yuuuuuuuummmmmmmmy! thank you, God (& Shannon’s on Ft. Hamilton Pkwy.), for begonias…
and check out this blog, titled Eat the Weeds and other things too…I like!
And you, now that we’re getting close to being home-bound, and you find yourself inspecting house plants and other items, are you encountering any surprise edibility? Go ahead … gimme the dirt (just don’t make me eat it, I think)….
armageddon boogy beat. nice surprise those begonias. didn’t know they were edible. gonna do a double take on next trip to home depot. thank you.
Cuidado on the Home Depot trip (and sorry for delayed response) — make sure to ask if they used any pesticides on them. Aside from being not good for you, I hear pesticides taste pretty nasty on flowers.
I took a look through my containers today. They seem to have become patient zero for what I am almost certain is chick weed. I may have missed them except they are starting to grow their tiny white flowers again. With some luck I’ll have enough growing so they can be added into salad next year.
Sounds yummy! I’m curious – what herbs if any are you growing inside during the year. I’m going to try growing some this year for the first time. (Usually I keep maybe a little thyme but not much else growing indoors).
